All of us who grew up watching Hindi films know and love Bombay-centric ones like ‘Wake Up Sid’—especially for its obsession with Mumbai’s sea. And it’s true. Amidst the hustle and bustle of this fast-paced city, it truly is the sea that grounds you, holds you close, and cradles you when things get hard. For people like me, who haven’t grown up in the city but have now grown to love it, know how special the sea really is. It’s a magnet for just how many people live and thrive in Bombay—we all stay for the allure of the sea, be it the Juhu Beach, or everyone’s dear Marine Drive.
The best place to enjoy these stunning views? Bombay’s finest restaurants and cafes. Alongside golden sunsets and salty breezes, these spots serve some of the best, most iconic food in all of the city. Think wind in your hair, the Mumbai skyline, and a soundtrack straight out of your favourite Bollywood romance.
If you’re visiting for a short trip or just wondering where to go to sip on a view and enjoy the best of what the city has to offer, read along, because we have curated a selection of some of the best sea-facing views that the city has to offer—avec food that hits home.
Cecconi’s, Soho House
One of Mumbai’s most loved Italian spots, Cecconi’s is renowned for serving up the most romantic first dates in the city. And if that isn’t enough incentive to visit, they have one of the best views of the Arabian Sea across Bombay. While sunset is the best time to visit, their breakfast menu, as well as candlelight dinner, are both quite popular as well. As a classic Italian spot, their Alfredo pasta, spaghetti with lobster, and wood-fired pizzas are widely loved. And as far as drinks are concerned, we love their prosecco, negroni, and aeperol spritz—their ‘drunches’ are especially infamous for an unlimited drinks cart that is served on your table (how amazing does that sound?).
Cecconi’s might be the next place to be for your first date, birthday (or breakup) party, or even just a weekend lunch. Keep your phones charged, because there sure will be lots of pictures to take!

AER—Bar & Lounge, Four Seasons
Sitting pretty atop the 34th floor of the Four Seasons in Worli, AER is located right before Marine Drive, and is hence home to one of the best views in the city, no matter what time of day. From up here, the city feels calmer—the sea stretches endlessly on one side, the skyline shimmers on the other, and the sunsets look like they’ve been painted just for you. It’s the kind of spot that makes you slow down a little, sip your drink a little longer, and take in just how beautiful Bombay really is. And the vibe? It’s modern, a little dramatic, and so, so addictive. The music pairs perfectly with your dinner date, and the menu is the cherry on top.
Think gourmet small plates, sushi rolls, and truffle fries that you’ll guard with your life, alongside cocktails that taste as good as they look (the Aer-Plane and Golden Hour are crowd favourites). Whether you’re visiting for a fancy date night or just to remind yourself how good life can look from the top, AER guarantees one thing: you’ll leave a little giddier than you arrived—partly from the drinks, and of course, partly from the view.

Razzberry Rhinoceros
Perched before Silver Beach (one of the better, less crowded halves of Juhu Beach), this restaurant is as fun and funky as its name suggests. Once referred to as the go-to spot for live gigs and performances in the late 90s and early 2000s, this spot is now popular among couples and families for dining with a view (and lots of nostalgia), after its reopening in 2017.
With two sections dividing the restaurant—the sea-facing lawn and the actual restaurant area—Razzberry Rhinoceros is located quite literally at the footsteps of the beach. Their veg platter, risotto and barbequed snacks are especially loved by regulars. Perfect for a seaside date or a lazy sundowner, visit Razz if you’re only around for a few days in the city, and wish to experience the best of everything Bombay has to offer, without breaking your bank, of course!

Bastian At The Top
Shilpa Shetty’s dearly beloved restaurant, Bastian, is one of the most sought-after in Mumbai at the moment—if you went to Mumbai and didn’t go to Bastian, what did you really do?

Not only does the restaurant offer one of the best views of the Sea Link in all of the city, but the food, drinks, and interiors also speak for themselves. Spread over 10,000 square feet on a rooftop space (it’s literally the 42nd floor), the views and Cappadocia-inspired cave-like interiors are absolutely breathtaking. The restaurant also has levitating chandeliers, a giant statue of a laughing Buddha carved into a wall, decor pieces in Aztec prints, and an in-house pool. Be it sunset or nighttime, the views are picturesque at every time of day. No one’s doing it quite like Bastian in all of the city, and that’s saying something.
And the food? It’s sprawling with unique dishes waiting to be devoured. While there are plenty of options—both veg as well as non-veg—some of our favourites include their chicken tacos, avocado toast, and Bastian ceviche. The entire dessert menu is to-die-for (especially the pull-aparts), and the drink menu might just be never-ending. But if you’re going for the whole experience, don’t forget to try the LIIT in a handbag.
Be it your next date, club night, family dinner, or corporate meeting, Bastian’s (got range) is perfect for all!

Sea Lounge, The Taj Mahal Palace
The Sea Lounge at Mumbai’s iconic Taj Mahal Palace is as fancy as a cafe could get, serving one of the most spectacular views in the city that you probably won’t get anywhere else. With its art deco interiors, grand windows overlooking the Gateway of India and the docks around it, and the faint hum of live piano music, it’s the best spot to enjoy any meal from breakfast to dinner, but especially tea.
The Maharaja High Tea, as the name suggests, is one of the most royal-like meals you can enjoy at the hotel, with tea served in silver pots and cups, alongside scones, finger sandwiches, and other pastries. So, if you want to feel like a royal and dine with the Gateway of India itself, get a table now!

Pizza By The Bay
Pizza By The Bay is perhaps the oldest restaurant in this list, and might just be the most iconic. Existing since 1968, this spot is at the doorstep of Marine Drive—like the name suggests—and serves some of the most drool-worthy pizza in town.

With its cosy interiors, breezy windows, and outside seating at the edge of the road, it’s a front-row seat to Mumbai’s most iconic skyline. The pizzas (of course) are the star of the show—thin-crusted, perfectly charred, and loaded with just the right amount of cheese—but the pastas, salads, and desserts hold their own too. Come sunset, as the promenade starts to glow and the sounds of the waves become louder and louder, there’s really no better spot to nurse a drink, share a slice (of pizza or cheesecake, you pick your poison) and remind yourself why Marine Drive is the most-loved place in all of the city.
Bonus: they open for breakfast early (their buttered pancakes are widely renowned) every morning, and stay open until midnight, so you can enjoy every view at all times of the day, up to your whim and fancy. Visit soon!
