A delicious drink for the sweltering summer days

A delicious drink for the sweltering summer days

There are summer drinks, and then there are summer rituals: things you have to do in the summer no matter push comes to shove. Our case? This pomegranate cooler.
This beverage is the kind that feels less like a quick fix and more like something your body actually thanks you for. Rooted in the mindful, wellness-led philosophy of Anāyu Recipes from Vana—a recipe book released by Six Senses Vana, the wellness retreat from Dehradun, Uttarakhand—this pomegranate cooler is everything you need to feel like you’re on a tropical vacation, right at home (at least in essence). It’s simple and carries the kind of intention that makes you slow down, sip, and notice what you’re drinking.
At the heart of it is pomegranate, which is popular across cultures not just for how jewel-encrusted it looks, but also for its nutritional depth. In fact, did you know that this deep-red, seed-like fruit comes packed with up to three times more antioxidants than green tea or red wine? And if that wasn’t enough, it’s known to prevent cell damage, reduce ageing, and offer intense cooling properties.
In short, this one is a go-to for Indian summers. When you add the warmth of cinnamon and the spice of candied ginger, you get a drink that’s refreshing and cooling enough for the sweltering days.
The result is a drink that not only quenches your thirst but also feels restorative. You’ll want to make this cooler over and over again, whether you’re hosting friends, relaxing, or just looking for something more flavourful to beat the heat.

Note:
  • Double the ingredients when cooking for more people to ensure everyone gets a fluffy stack.
  • Swap out eggs for mashed bananas, yogurt, or flaxseed mix if you're vegetarian or allergic to eggs.
  • Use buttermilk instead of regular milk for extra soft and airy pancakes.
  • Let the batter rest for 5-10 minutes before cooking to get fluffier pancakes.
  • Cook on medium-low heat to avoid burning while ensuring even cooking.
  • Add vanilla extract or cinnamon for an extra touch of flavor.
  • Top with fresh fruits, nuts, or honey for a delicious and healthy twist.
