Ceviche is a popular dish fusing the Japanese flavours and techniques with Peruvian ingredients

Nikkei cuisine is the new flavour mash-up everyone is talking about, perfect for those who crave bold, unexpected pairings with a culinary adventure. This technique-forward and ingredient-focused cuisine is a harmonious blend of Peruvian ingredients shaped by Japanese cooking techniques. While it may belong to the world of premium dining now, this culinary fusion was born from a cultural exchange. When Japanese immigrants settled in Peru, they brought their fine technique of cutting raw fish, while Peruvian lime, chillies and peppers made the perfect marinade. While Nikkei cuisine has its roots in fusion, it has now become a culinary art form with its unique identity. Celebrating the delicate artistry of Japanese cuisine, it embraces the vibrant spices and fresh seafood of Peruvian cooking. From the ceviche technique of marinating seafood in citrus juices to tiradito, like sashimi but with Peruvian-style sauces, there is so much to explore in Nikkei dishes. If you are a pro at trying new cuisines and are looking for a flavourful adventure, then Nikkei cuisine won’t disappoint you. Here are the spots in Delhi NCR where you can relish a Nikkei feast.
