There’s never a dull moment in Bombay! There’s always a newly opened restaurant, an exciting up-and-coming chef, a smashing dining spot, a limited-time pop-up begging your reservation or, even at your regular neighbourhood joint, a revamped menu to devour. As perks of living in the city, you could never not have anything to do around here—be it in Bandra, SoBo, or the suburbs, there are always too many new restaurants lining up for you to try. Whether you’re the kind to brunch, bar-hop, or book a table “just to see what the fuss is about,” there’s always a new spot demanding your weekend plans (and maybe your wallet).
There’s also something exciting about how these new spaces are shaping the way Mumbai eats, drinks, and connects. They’re not just about good food or pretty interiors; they’re about community, collaboration, and creativity. Each new opening adds another layer to the city’s ever-evolving identity—one that’s equal parts cosmopolitan, experimental, and nostalgic.
The best part? Each new place feels like it’s trying to outdo the last—more aesthetic corners, more artisanal menus, more ‘hidden’ gems that are, well, not so hidden anymore. Mumbai’s dining scene right now is like a group chat you can’t keep up with: new names dropping every week, everyone’s got an opinion, and you’re just trying to keep up while pretending you discovered them first. So, if you’ve been waiting for a reason to step out, this month’s lineup of openings might just give you a few (too many) places to start.
HOM
In the heart of Bandra West, HŌM is turning up the heat—both literally and metaphorically. Named after the Sanskrit word—‘Homa’—for sacred fire, the 42-seater restaurant by chef Saurabh Udinia brings some of the most unique restaurant elements to Mumbai. From open-fire cooking in an open kitchen to a comprehensive tasting menu, HOM is introducing experiences that have never been offered in the city’s food and beverage scene.
Upon entering, you’re greeted by open flames, terracotta-toned walls, and a dramatic grill/plancha/tandoor setup that anchors the experience. Standing true to its name, the chef leads the menu with an 80–90 % focus on fire-roasted ingredients. The concept? Every day flavours transformed over the glowing, char-kissed surfaces. Expect dishes where the grill isn’t just a tool—it’s part of the very flavours and experience of dining. Highlights include char-grilled king-oyster mushrooms, Goan-influenced lobster with chilli cheese, and a kulcha that’s smoky and rich in all the right ways. Even the drinks taste just enough like fire.
It’s a sweaty, lick-the-plate kind of experience where heat, food and mood meet. If you’re ready for something daring—and fiery—this is the spot.

Opa Kipos
Once known across the city for their traditional, foot-stomping dance traditions that also involved breaking plates by smashing them on the ground at the end of your dinner (a tradition called kefi), this Greek fine-dining restaurant just reopened in South Bombay with a brand-new revamp. While the Santorini charm hasn’t been lost, thanks to the blue and white decor accents, stone flooring, and of course, the very, very Greek menu.

On the menu, there are generous mezza platters, baklava (in dessert and drink form), scrumptious Greek salads, and Hummus with Crispy Lamb—some of the crowd favourites. To accompany the menu, Opa Kipos’ vibe remains electric. With lively Mediterranean music, dance parties kick-started by the staff, and too many Instagrammable corners to keep track of, this new opening is begging to be on your next weekend to-do list.

BANNG
If you love Thai food like your life depends on it, look no further.
BANNG offers some of the best Thai food in all of the city, occasionally, with funky Indian twists (read: things like Tom Kha pani puri and crab omelette are on the menu). Restaurateur Riyaaz Amlani and chef Garima Arora’s brainchild is a two-in-one: a street-side bar on the one hand, and a family-style fine dining on the other. The bar brings to life the taste of Bangkok’s streets, with drinks that transport you right back. The must-try cocktails include the Phi Phi Colada, the Sea in a Glass, and the soju, obviously.
For your plates, some of the crowd favourites include Avocado Som Tum, a White Curry with grilled tomatoes and Thai‐inflected desserts like Mango Sticky Rice and Lod Chong Bingsu. In short, if you want to sip the taste of Bangkok from Bombay, BANNG might just be for you!

Solaire, Grand Hyatt
Sanjay Dutt just opened his very new restaurant at BKC’s Grand Hyatt, and we are obsessed. Named after the Sun and all-things-solar, even the restaurant’s interiors are themed around warmer tones, from oranges to deep reds. With a kaleidoscope of cuisines up its sleeve, this spot serves everything from artisanal Indian dishes to European favourites, French delicacies, and even Italian coffee. Dutt has dispersed his own travels into the restaurant’s menu alongside everything he grew up eating, with Solaire’s twist on the actor’s favourites.

The best part? The bar, of course! The cocktail menu spans pretty much every drink you could possibly imagine, including colour-changing gin, a cocktail with Indian pickles, or one with charcoal and rum—take your pick.

Kari Apla
Everyone’s favourite coastal cuisine spot just revamped its menu, and we are here for it!
Chef Ebaani Tewari and Mathew Varghese are renowned across the city for their tasteful and playful spins on coastal food, and Kari Apla’s new menu is no different. Some of our fav items on this new menu include Aai’s kaala mutton, banana leaf roasted fish with scallion paratha, and podi squid. They have also brought back some of the older crowd favourites, like the Goan ros omelette and the Suriani roast.
And the interiors of the restaurant are even better. With floral accents sprinkled all across, inspired by curry-leaf blossoms, the spot feels intimate yet never cramped, thanks to the warm lighting and thoughtful touches that reflect the stories cooking behind the scenes. An open kitchen sits behind a glass divide, letting you watch chefs at work without the hustle overwhelming your meal.

Harajuku Tokyo Cafe
Select City Walk’s beloved Japanese joint just said “moshi moshi, Mumbai” and debuted in the city of dreams earlier this year. While Bombay is infamous for one too many Asian options to choose from, it’s safe to say that this one has still managed to make its cosy, cute place in the heart of the city. Thanks to its Tokyo-like interiors, a literal suhi conveyor belt, and food that tastes even better than it looks (it looks like it’s straight out of a Studio Ghibli film), everyone and their mothers have been loving this Japanese spot.
The decor looks like a mini-Japan right here, in Bombay. On entering, the cafe resembles a Japanese gaming centre—you’ll find retro signage, holographic signs, and vibrant lighting. You can even read manga while waiting for your order at this 72-seater space. It doesn’t get better than this for anime fans!

And the food has our hearts. The fluffy, cloud-like soufflé pancakes look too good to be real, while the ramen bowls and sushi rolls are some of the best in the city. Other delicacies on the menu include Dorayaki stuffed pancakes, taiyaki (yes, that fish-shaped waffle cone stuffed with ice cream or red bean), matcha affogato, and chicken karaage.
