New cocktail bars and restaurants in Delhi NCR

New cocktail bars and restaurants in Delhi NCR

Delhi’s food scene constantly reinvents itself and undergoes a metamorphosis every three months. If you find it challenging to keep track of the new cocktail bars, restaurants, and eateries that come up in the city every fortnight, we have got you covered. From European diners to local and Indian cuisine, here’s a list of newly-opened dining spots in the city that you should look out for the next time you plan an outing.

Naarma

An addition to New Delhi’s fine-dining space is Naarma— a space inspired by fire and water,  where art and food come together to create a one-of-a-kind experience for the diner. Executive Chef, Gubat Cagaoan, leads Naamra’s kitchen, and the menu offers preparations where Japanese techniques brush shoulders with European flavours.

Some must-tries from the food menu include Mount Fuji (sliced vegetables, crispy noodle, pickle and crispy onion, and lava dressing), miso black cod (pickle daikon and saiko miso), and spaghetti salsa rosa. The restaurant also offers live teppanyaki and open kitchens with bold flavours and minimal cocktails.

From the cocktail menu that Heena Kawalramani has designed, one must try the jungle bird, apple and croissant, lemon pie smash, and akagane old-fashioned.

The multi-section restaurant has an outdoor space featuring lush greens, an indoor space with a bold rose installation, and a private dining room. During the day, one can take a spot in the breezy cabanas and enjoy the beats drop as the sun sets.

Latango

Founded by Sahil Sambhi, Latango is the new talk of the town. After Japonico, his first venture, Sambhi has brought you a European diner with a Japanese accent (as the team at Latango likes to call it).

Behind the menu at Latango are Chef Roberto Blondi and Chef Joe Stanchi, who prepare dishes using authentic techniques, recipes, and ingredients that allow each preparation to stand out.

From the food menu, begin with a salad. Go with their spinach and parmesan salad if you want to play it safe. Otherwise, the lemon and herb-cooked octopus salad is a must-try too.

You can go for their scallop sashimi with smoked ponzu or the crispy prawn takosu. From everyone who has visited Latango, I have heard only great things about their home-style lobster, which is not just rare in Delhi but also flavourful and well-prepared.

The drinks menu at Latango is promising and is curated as a series of letters between artists from the West and East. Some highlights include Cubist Negroni (a letter from Picasso to Amrita Shergill), the nudist picante (an exchange between Donald Judd and Raza Abidi), and the Dali bomb.

Latango is a 165-cover space spread across two floors, a large alfresco area, a sculptural bar, a double-height ceiling, and India’s only two-storey show kitchen.

Bombay Club

Bringing Mumbai’s evocative cuisine within the ease of an all-day cafe in Delhi’s Dhan Mill is Bombay Club. The restaurant has reopened its doors and offers activities like reading sessions, sip and paint events, and a tiramisu-making masterclass.

Food at Bombay Club will transport you to Bombay’s streets and give the city’s taste on your plates.

Start your meal with the classic radga pattice or misal and keema pav. They also offer a range of frankies you can choose from— diners enjoy the bhuna mutton frankie and batata cheese frankie the most. As for mains, you can opt for the malvani paneer or the (most-loved) chicken Chettinad. Their stuffed chicken steak sizzler is a hit too, and will fill you up.

Bombay Club also offers a compact section on Parsi delicacies. The dhansak and berry pulao are worth trying if you enjoy or wish to try the cuisine. If there is one thing you shouldn’t miss on your visit, it is their mawa cake or the pineapple crumble.

Anjeer

Bringing local flavours from all across India in healthier and lighter versions, Anjeer in Gurugram. Some must-tries from the menu include their kale saag with jakhiya aaloo, aloo tostada with mathri, and avocado chokhna and crispy spinach. Other highlights from the menu include the mutton seekh, tandoori gobhi, burrata served with tomato sambal and bharwan baingan, and goan fish curry.

Their desserts are special. You could go for the lauki halwa, gulab jamun or kulfi falooda. However, you could go for the classic chocolate cake from Fig, which is also served at Anjeer (since both spaces have the same owner).

Their cocktail menu is relatively new, and some highlights include the dessert-inspired daydream and golden.

Ikk Panjab

With its third outpost in Delhi NCR, Ikk Panjab has opened its doors in Gurugram to bring the comfort of Punjab’s rich culinary heritage to your table. With an ambience that allows you to experience the warmth of a family dining room, the restaurant has made a mark on Delhi’s food scene, ever since its first outpost came up in Connaught Place in February this year.

The menu tells stories from the past and is a love letter to pre-Partition Punjab, with each dish bringing to your table. Some highlights from the menu include their kibti chicken from the kitchens of Patiala, the classic burra kebab, bharwan khumb, and gosht beliram that was once cooked in Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s court.

For a sweet close to the meal, pick their tarn taran di jalebi rabdi or the nani’s phirni on the menu—both are diner favourites.
