Mumbai's latest openings will leave you spoilt for choice

Mumbai's latest openings will leave you spoilt for choice

If there is one thing that Mumbai’s dining scene does not believe in, it is taking a break. Just when you think you’ve finally made it through your ever-growing list of new cafés, cocktail bars, and “we absolutely need to go here” restaurant openings, the calendar flips—and suddenly, there’s an entirely fresh batch of reservations demanding your attention.

And honestly? We’re not complaining.

Because if there’s one thing Mumbai does exceptionally well, it’s keeping the food, drinks, and coffee scene in constant motion. There’s always something new to book.

This May is no different.

The city’s latest openings are bringing fresh menus, fresher interiors, enough to keep things exciting. Whether you’re in the mood for a long, indulgent dinner, a quick catch-up with great coffee, or simply another reason to dress up and go out, Mumbai’s newest tables are ready for you.

So yes, your weekends may already look full—but trust us, these are a few reservations worth making room for.

Punchline

At Punchline, the joke is very much on anyone who doesn’t visit!

Tucked inside Bandra Reclamation, the new opening from the team behind Delhi’s Barbet & Pals is built around the idea of punch, widely considered the world’s oldest cocktail (and one with roots in India, no less). The result is a bar that’s playful and serious about its craft, all at the same time. Here you’ll find pun-filled menus, glowing interiors, and drinks that are clever without becoming cliché.

You’re welcomed, quite literally, with the OG Punch—a complimentary drink made of spiced rum with apple, apricot, and five-spice, served alongside a blue cheese-stuffed olive, which should tell you immediately that this place is not here to do what’s basic. From there, the cocktail menu only gets more interesting. The T-Root Bomb—with vodka, bergamot, akarkara, verjus, and first flush tea—is already becoming an early favourite.

There’s also Swine n’ Brine made for savoury-drink lovers: a punchy, smoky concoction featuring five spirits, tamari, olives, and even Goan pork chorizo (the star ingredient). Basically, it’s vaguely inspired by a Long Island Iced Tea. If you like your drinks rich and a bit out of the ordinary, the Ghee-nius, made with whisky, mezcal, ghee, and caramelised sherry, is exactly the kind of chaos you want in a glass.

And then there’s the food, helmed by Chef Amninder Sandhu, which refuses to be overshadowed by the bar. The Made Wings Great Again, tandoor-grilled chicken wings crusted in black Manipuri rice, are already a must-order. Another favourite is the Two Good Lamb Ribs, glazed in Old Monk butter and topped with buff marrow gremolata. The Naga Pork Belly, layered with fermented bamboo shoot and bold Northeastern flavours, and the Crispy Arbi and Too Many Mushroom Toast make strong cases for the vegetarian side of the menu.

And because Punchline apparently doesn’t believe in boring endings either, dessert comes in the form of Iberico Ice Cream—vanilla ice cream topped with crispy Iberico ham, mango, and Bhavnagari chilli. Strange? Slightly. Delicious? Apparently, very.

Adelina

At Adelina, Bandra’s latest Italian obsession, dinner comes with a side of breathtaking interiors and VERY great design. Spread across a sprawling 6,000-square-foot space on Linking Road, the restaurant feels like stepping into an eccentric Italian villa where someone has a very good eye for decor and an even better understanding of Italian food. Case in point: the ceiling is literally a Michelangelo-inspired mural! Founded by sisters Harshita and Ankita Bhatia, Adelina is perfect for those who enjoy authentic pastas, pizzas, raviolis, and risottos.

Start with the Crostini ai Funghi, which has already become an early favourite, or the Gamberi alla Griglia if grilled prawns are your weakness. But the heart of Adelina is undeniably the pasta programme, because multiple pastas at the table aren’t just encouraged; they feel necessary. Some standouts include the Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe, Gnocchi Aglio e Olio, Pappardelle Nel Verde, and Rigatoni in Vodka Sauce. And then, of course, there’s the Tiramisu, because ending an Italian meal without it would simply be criminal.

What makes Adelina especially exciting is that it manages to feel both grand and intimate at once. So for your next fancy meal out, consider a reservation here.

RumBabaa

At RumBabaa, Mumbai’s newest café obsession, the concept is quite straightforward: stay longer than you meant to. It’s an all-day, coffee-and-vinyl-led space with Japanese-inspired, minimalist interiors, records spinning, and an atmosphere that somehow feels polished and comforting. So, come in when you’re in the mood to settle in.

If you’re arriving hungry, the Tiramisu French Toast is mandatory, carefully balancing between the distinctions of breakfast and dessert. The Rumbabaa Eggs, served with garlic lemon yoghurt and beet harissa, are another standout, while the Krapow Omelette adds a spicier edge to the morning menu. For something lighter, the Longevity Bowl and Kodo Power Bowl are good picks. For something more filling, go for the Kataifi Prawns, Bajra Tacos with jackfruit, and the comforting Peruvian Chicken Pot Pie.

And then, of course, there’s the coffee, which is very much the main point here. The Dark Velvet Espresso Cold Coffee, and Salted Caramel Espresso Oat Latte, as crazy as they sound, are crowd favourites, while the Iced Black Sesame Latte might just be a whacky yet delish pick. Their cold brews—with Yuzu, Watermelon, and Lychee flavours—work especially well in summer. They also have a dedicated slow bar with V60 brews and fresh orange pour-overs, which is reason enough to visit for connoisseurs.

Ringo

At Ringo, Mumbai’s café scene gets a charming little French detour. This is an all-day café and bakery that feels perfect for slow breakfasts, coffee breaks, and the dangerous idea that perhaps one pastry should never be ordered alone. With a focus on French-inspired pastries, artisanal breads, and desserts, Ringo brings the love of bread and dry pastries to Mumbai.

Founded by Sagar Neve and chef Niyati Rao, Chef Akshay is mainly in charge of the baking. The space builds on the loyal following of their bread programme at Ekaa, now in a larger space at the Godrej Trees campus. And yes, the bakery is very much the heart of it. Their artisanal sourdoughs, including a Rye and Paigambari Wheat Sourdough, are among the standouts. Beyond the breads, the menu leans into exactly the sort of café comforts you’d hope for: buttery pastries, savouries, and desserts that make coffee taste even better. A bonus is their teeny thecha khari with a thecha dipping oil.

In a city that often moves far too quickly, Ringo is a rather welcome excuse to slow down.

Papi

At Papi, a new opening in Khar, the vibe is unmistakably intimate: a chic little tapas bar on Linking Road that feels tailor-made for long evenings, with a side of delicious drinks. Open only from the evening onwards, Papi is perfect to get a table at for a no-nonsense weekend outing where drinks do most of the talking. If you’re looking for a cute little date spot, this works even better!

As the format suggests, the menu is built for grazing alongside a couple (or more than a couple) drinks. Some of the best things to order include the Lamb Birria Tacos, Cheeseburger Croquettes, and classic guac and chips. While the space itself is still fresh on Mumbai’s dining radar, what makes Papi immediately appealing is its focus on that endlessly enjoyable tapas-bar rhythm: good drinks, shareable food, and an atmosphere built for relaxing.
