Mumbai never stops moving—from the traffic and people to the sheer speed of life, nothing in this city ever slows down. And guess what? Neither does the restaurant and nightlife scene. For obvious reasons, there’s too much to do in this city, which only points to one thing: too much to choose from. There’s always a new opening, a new bar, or a new menu to check out every week and weekend, and we’re not complaining! Just when we think we’ve mapped every lane of Bandra and bookmarked every cocktail space in the city, a fresh crop of openings arrives with something even more unexpected.
What makes this current particular wave of openings interesting isn’t just the volume (though there’s plenty of that). It’s how varied everything feels. A patisserie that treats desserts like fashion. A diner-style space that leans into pure nostalgia from vintage films. A café tucked inside a century-old bungalow. A bar that moves with you from coffee to cocktails without missing a beat. There’s no one way Mumbai is doing things right now—and that’s exactly what makes it exciting!
So if your idea of a new place to try has been stuck in a loop, consider this your reset. These are the spots currently shaping the city’s next round of nights out, coffee runs, and everything in between. And yes, you best believe your weekends are about to get a lot busier.
Portal
Located in the heart of Kala Ghoda, Portal is designed as a space that doesn’t lock itself into one category. Conceived by hospitality entrepreneur Punam H. Singh, it moves fluidly through the day—starting as a quaint coffee stop, easing into long, relaxed meals, and eventually settling into a cocktail-filled evening.

In the kitchen, Chef Gregory Bazire takes an ingredient-led approach that sticks to the all-day format. The menu evolves with the clock. Lighter, comfort-driven options like the Feel Good Bowl, The Crispy Green, Tokuri with toast, and congee with ginger and fritters ease you into the day. For more main-course-like, globally influenced meals, go for the Avocado Tartine on house-baked shokupan, the Grand Paratha with confit garlic lamb, the Lamb Kimchi Sando, Gateway Rawas with an idli crust, Moroccan spiced lamb with chickpea mash, or a rice sandwich inspired by onigirazu with miso grilled tofu.
The bar, developed with the team at Spill It, follows a similar structure. Organised into Foundations, Expressions, and Intervals, the cocktail menu offers a great variety and complexity. Drinks like Regal Rosetta, Marine Drive Martini, The 6 pm Show, and Art School Dropout sit alongside lighter options such as Jazz Age Spritz and Space Jam, with a tight selection of classics, if that’s what floats your boat.
This is the kind of place that adapts to you, whether you’re dropping in for a quick bite, settling for a long meal, or letting the evening stretch out over a few well-made drinks.

Staqx
In a city currently obsessed with high-concept bars and maximalist menus, Staqx takes a different route—it goes back to basics. Launched by chef Beena Noronha under Saltae Hospitality, this compact Bandra spot is built around the idea of comfort food, in an American diner setting.

Draws heavily from 1980s American diner culture—think neon signage, chrome finishes, red and yellow accents, and an energy that feels straight out of a film set. It’s intimate by design, with just about 14 seats, which means you’re always close to the action, whether that’s the kitchen or the music. On the menu, the focus is unapologetically indulgent. This is comfort food in its most familiar form, including sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, milkshakes, sundaes, and coffee, layered flavours, and house-made sauces.
What ties it all together is the idea behind the name itself—stacking. Not just ingredients, but flavours, textures, and even the overall experience, to create something that feels bigger than the sum of its parts.

Julien Patisserie
If most dessert spots are about indulgence, Julien Patisserie is about bringing food and fashion together to create something close to art in food form. Housed inside Fort’s iconic Galeries Lafayette, the brand positions itself less as a traditional bakery and more as a dessert house—borrowing heavily from the world of fashion, where each creation is treated like a statement piece rather than just something sweet.

Instead of predictable categories, the menu at Julien organises its offerings like a curated collection, in sections such as Runway Pieces, Atelier Edition, Dark Romantics, and Statement Drops. The desserts themselves follow through on that concept: visually striking, layered, and designed to feel couture-like. Crowd-favourite options include Cherry After Dark, a richer, more intense dessert; Matcha, Unfiltered, which leans into deeper, less sweet matcha notes; Macadamia Muse, built around nutty, creamy textures; and Brownie + Cookie Whisper.
What makes Julien stand out is how it treats dessert as an experience rather than an afterthought. The focus isn’t just on flavour, but on how each piece looks, feels, and is consumed.

The menu, curated by Chef Ameya Mahajani, is all about global flavours with a comfort-first approach. Moving from Asian to Indian, standout dishes include the Edamame Phyllo Parcels, Kale Papdi Chaat, Wasabi Crispy Prawns, Jalapeño Chicken Baos, and sushi rolls like Chilli Garlic Edamame Uramaki and Katsu Chicken & Avo Maki. Go for like Thai Mince Basil Tofu with Jasmine Rice, Signature Bajra Pulao, and Chicken Bhattiwala with Naan when you’re hungrier.

Everhome Cafe
Housed inside a beautifully restored 130-year-old bungalow in Bandra, Everhome Café is less of a quick coffee stop and more of a space you settle into, as you slow down for a weekend.

The menu follows an all-day format, anchored in breakfast and comfort-led dishes. One of the standout elements is their house rustic bread, light and airy and infused with rosemary, which becomes the backbone of several dishes and something you’ll likely keep reaching for. Breakfast is a big draw here, with options like Turkish eggs, scrambles, omelettes, pancakes, and parfaits, alongside more local and wholesome picks like quinoa poha and paratha pockets. For meals after breakfast, go for dishes like their guacamole and hummus with bread, fresh salads, and soba noodle bowls.
On the coffee front, there’s a strong focus on specialty coffee—often served with flavours like cinnamon, vanilla, or hazelnut—alongside smoothies, fresh juices, kombucha, and matcha. And if you’re staying till the end (which you likely will), the house-baked desserts, like croissants, blueberry almond cake, and flourless chocolate cake, plus a soft-serve swirl, make for a fitting finish.
