Nothing can do what a good dessert does to a meal. Being someone who starts reading the menu from the last page, I make sure I try desserts wherever they are served. Being from Jaipur, the city has some very nice bakeries and cafes that serve desserts that are to die for. From early morning jalebi treats and a mawa kachori dripping with chaashni to a silky phirni, here’s a round up of desserts you must try in Jaipur and the best spots for them.
Jalebis At Samrat
For most in Jaipur, an ideal morning always features their most loved pyaaz ki kachori, poha, and jalebis from Samrat. While the eatery has opened up multiple stores across the Pink City, nothing comes close to standing in a long beeline outside their Chaura Rasta outpost and watching the halwai dip the fried jalebis in chaashni and serving the glazed, crispy, and sweet, delights in a brown paper bag (that will soon stain with the oil and chaashni of the jalebis).
It is universally known but worth mentioning that it is best to have them when crispy, even if that means eating them hot. Rabri on jalebis (like it is served in Delhi) is not very popular in Jaipur. So enjoy your bag full of jalebis from samrat and thank me later!
Address: Multiple locations (but I would suggest you to try the Chaura Rasta outpost)

Cheesecakes At OTH
As someone who enjoys a cheesecake more than any other dessert, I order a cheesecake everywhere it is on the menu. If you are someone like me and wondering where to try Pink City’s best cheesecake, eat at On the House and you are sorted.

The nutella, and blueberry cheesecakes at OTH are to simply die for. Mango is another flavour that is seasonally available at the eatery which is a must-try too. It is a cafe where you will find most of the city dwellers plan their coffee and brunch outings. You must try their pesto verdure pizza, and fettuccine ala fungi if you are up for something more than their desserts. If you walk up a staircase, you will also find Lama, the best Pan-Asian restaurant in the city. You must try their crystal dimsums, red Thai curry, thupka, and asparagus tempura sushi and before you know it, you will be in love. You can place orders from OTH while dining at Lama (so don’t forget to end your meal with the cheesecake even then).

Mawa Kachori At Rawat Mishthan Bhandaar
While Rawat Misthan Bhandar in Jaipur is best known for its pyaaz ki kachori (I would say, one must try the one served at Samrat and then compare it for themselves), their maawe ki kachori is hands down the best thing on their roster. Dipped in chaashni (sugar syrup) and stuffed with a filling of moong daal, the kachori is unlike anything you would have ever eaten.
If you are someone with a low sweet tolerance, then a bite or two of the kachori might fill you up. But if you are someone who has a sweet tooth, then gear up for a sugar rush that you won’t regret, rather would come back to over and over again.
Address: Multiple outlets
Price for two: INR 300
Desserts At Camiano
Situated in the heart of Jaipur, Camiano has been the talk of the town for the many fun events and pop ups organised at the patisserie and brasserie. Its desserts are to die for.
Their brioche roll and pain au chocolat are the two best offerings on their menu. Most people enjoy their cookies too. The oats and jaggery cookie is the best of all. If there is one order that you cannot go wrong with and is also the star of the menu, it is the New York nutella wheel. While eating it is quite messy because the wafer wheel is brimming with nutella that you will find on your nose and lips by the time you finish it.
Camiano offers a range of salads, smoothie bowls, and small bites that you could order too if you are looking for a heartier meal. I would say, only go for the desserts.
Address: E-141 A, Sardar Patel Marg, C Scheme, Jaipur.

Phirni At Peshawari

Peshawari at ITC Rajputana is known for its iconic dal bukhara and I also love their kebab platter, but one thing that you shouldnt leave the restaurant without is their phirni. Served in a mitti ka sikora (a mud bowl), the phiri is silky and melts in your mouth before you know it. Topped with kesar flakes, it also extracts the earthiness of the sikora that takes the flavours a notch up.
