Hosa, the Gurugram-based South Indian restaurant, has just introduced its exclusive Hosa Filter Coffee Club, a new experience designed to celebrate the craft, ritual, art, and cultural significance of traditional South Indian filter coffee. At a time when most coffee culture is increasingly dominated by speed and novelty, this club takes a more deliberate, gradual route.
Built around the idea of slowing down and taking a moment to appreciate filter kaapi, the club invites guests to engage with it not simply as a beverage, but as a sensory ritual. One that has long shaped everyday life across South India. From a menu featuring filter kaapi variants you probably haven’t heard of before to guided tasting menus and finger foods that go perfectly with the coffee, Hosa is creating a dedicated space where coffee lies at the centre of a long meal of its own.
An Immersive Celebration Of Filter Coffee
At the centre of the experience is the preparation of authentic South Indian filter coffee. Brewed with freshly ground coffee blended with chicory, this ingredient gives kaapi its unique taste. At Hosa’s Filter Coffee Club, the process takes place tableside, where the coffee is transformed into a rich decoction, paired with boiling milk, and poured using the traditional dabara–tumbler. The ritual is intentionally unhurried, allowing guests to take in the aroma, texture, and warmth that define an authentic cup of kaapi—just like one would enjoy a long-drawn wine tasting.
The club also features decoction stations and brass service ware, reinforcing the tactile and visual aspects of the experience. The way filter kaapi is meant to be consumed, after cooling in the brass glassware, is central to the experience of consuming it, which is exactly why the coffee club places such significance on it. Storytelling around beans, blends, and brewing methods is also a part of the experience, turning what might otherwise be a simple coffee order into a more immersive cultural moment.
For connoisseurs, curious minds, or those who nerd out about coffee, Hosa is also offering guided tastings and brewing sessions led by their in-house brewer, providing insight into the techniques and heritage behind South Indian filter coffee.
What’s On The Menu?
At the coffee club, there’s a rotating selection of signature brews, ranging from the Classic Filter Coffee to more unique, playful interpretations. These include the Filter Coffee Frappes in flavours like Strawberry Cake, Hazelnut, and Monsoon Malabar, alongside other single-estate offerings that are all about the diversity of South India’s coffee traditions.

And of course, no one’s possibly consuming this much coffee sans snacks! Complementing the kaapi-based beverages is a menu of selected bites designed to pair naturally with the brews. Guests can expect traditional favourites such as benne dosas (including mutton kothu and jackfruit pepper roast), edamame and spinach dosa, special South Indian fritters, a delicious murukku sandwich, and classics like onion bhaji and peanut sundal. For those who can never skip dessert, there is also a healthy selection of sweet offerings on the menu, like banana and jaggery cake and filter coffee tiramisu.
According to Brand Chef Harish Rao—also the one behind the menu—the entire intention behind this coffee experience is to pay homage to filter kaapi without overcomplicating or modernising it. They aim to highlight it as a daily ritual that most South Indians grow up with, something that’s extremely personal and inherent to everyday life.
About Hosa
Directly translating to “new” in Kannada, Hosa approaches South Indian cuisine through a lens that is both rooted in tradition and open to reinterpretation. The restaurant explores the region’s vast culinary diversity, drawing particular attention to coastal and regional influences while presenting familiar flavours in more contemporary forms.
Hosa first began in Siolim, Goa, where its debut outpost—located opposite St. Anthony’s Church—quickly established itself as a destination known as much for its atmosphere as its food.
