During my trip to Vietnam, my family and I visited a small town near Da Nang called Hội An, popular for its daytime and nighttime boating, and lots of lanterns. As we stood in the blistering heat, waiting for our coconut-shaped boats to arrive, we met with a local who claimed to make the best coffee we had have ever tasted. Made with coconut cream and milk right inside a coconut shell, I was quite sceptical of the drink at first.
However, his confidence forced me to give it a sip (he promised he wouldn’t charge us if we didn’t enjoy the coffee just as much as he claimed). When I took the first sip, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that time quite literally stopped. It was hands down the best coffee I have ever sipped on in my life. My mother, who is as big a caffeine enthusiast as me, confirmed similar feelings. And that was it. That coffee, in a rather remote town in Vietnam, became the object of my—and my mom’s—desires, forever.
My vacation in Vietnam led me to believe that there are few things in this world as unexpectedly perfect as Vietnam’s coconut coffee. It sounds strange at first—an almost dessert-like blend of silky coconut cream poured over a strong, dark Vietnamese-style brew—but the moment you take a sip, it’s over. You’re converted. It’s sweet, frothy, icy, tropical, and deeply caffeinated all at once. And somewhere between the humid streets of Vietnam, the tiny stool cafés, and the whirr of stainless-steel phin filters, this unlikely drink becomes a dream to taste again.
I learned this the hard way on my last trip to Vietnam—one coconut coffee turned into two a day, and suddenly I was scheduling my entire itinerary around which café I could try next. The drink tasted like a beach vacation blended with a caffeine kick, like the love child of dessert and coffee, like something that shouldn’t work…But absolutely does.
Coming back to Mumbai, the withdrawal was real. Regular lattes suddenly felt boring. Cold brew? Not creamy enough. Cappuccinos? Too simple, too bland. But luckily for us, our city’s cafés have caught on, and the coconut-coffee wave has officially landed. I won’t lie—these aren’t nearly as authentic and delicious as the original. But they are close.
So, if you’re craving that perfect balance of strong brew and coconutty sweetness without booking another international flight (though that sounds very tempting), here’s where you can find Mumbai’s best renditions—made right, and addictive.
Bōkka Coffee
Tucked into the city’s new-age, speciality-driven café culture, Bokka takes its brews seriously. And their coconut variant of coffee is no exception. Instead of going the overly sweet, dessert-in-a-glass route, they keep the balance just right: a bold Vietnamese-style coconut cold brew, made with chilled coconut milk that’s airy rather than heavy, and a texture that feels like a light frappé without losing the intensity of the espresso. The result? A cup that tastes like the tropical streets of Vietnam but fits perfectly into Mumbai’s eternal summer.

What makes Bokka’s version especially addictive is its drinkability—it’s not so rich that you tap out halfway, but not so mild that it doesn’t transport you right back to the trip where you first tried the original. You get the deep, roasted aroma of the coffee, followed by that creamy coconut sweetness that lingers just long enough on your palate.
It is smooth, refreshing, and frankly a little too easy to finish in under five minutes. If you’re chasing authenticity and a bit of Vietnam right in your coffee cup, Bokka might just become your first stop.

Blondie
At this point, I’m borderline struggling to write cafe-related articles about Mumbai, without raving about this versatile, one-size-fits-all, too-good-to-be-true, fail-proof cafe. Mumbai Blondie is THE go-to for all things coffee (and matcha, of course), which means it also has one of the most delicious coconut coffees in all of town.

Their Vietnamese Coconut Coffee is one of the most perfect renditions of my favourite coffee from Vietnam. They keep it classic at its core: a strong shot of espresso, sweetened condensed milk, and creamy coconut milk. But the magic is in the texture and temperature. Poured over ice, it’s cold enough to survive the city’s relentless heat but just rich enough that it feels like a proper indulgence. The coconut milk here is velvety, fragrant, and folds into the bitterness of the espresso beautifully. The result? A layered, coconut-scented, lightly caffeinated dessert-in-a-cup that’s equal parts refreshing, tropical, and indulgent.
The drink arrives looking like the kind of beverage you’d want to photograph from every angle before you take your first sip. It’s silky, coconut-y, and so good—I promise it’ll make you forget you’re not actually sitting in a tiny café in Ho Chi Minh city with scooters buzzing in the background.
Whether you’re trying coconut coffee for the first time or chasing the exact flavour memory from your Vietnam trip, this one gets very close—maybe even better.

Boojee Cafe
Boojee Café has quickly become one of Bandra’s most dependable caffeine stops, and their take on coconut coffee is exactly the kind of indulgence you want on a humid day in Mumbai. Their coconut cold brew is a smooth, tropical twist on your usual iced coffee—a slow-steeped cold brew shaken up with locally sourced coconut cream and just the right hit of jaggery for a rich, caramel-leaning sweetness. It’s creamy without being heavy, sweet without being sugary, and tastes like a beach holiday in a glass.

The first time I had this coffee, it was a coconut-filled, caffeinated dream. The coconut cream wraps around the coffee instead of overpowering it, and the jaggery adds this warm, earthy depth that keeps you going back for sip after sip. Pair it with their minimal, sunlit aesthetic and it’s basically the closest you can get to living the your Vietnamese coconut coffee dream in the heart of Mumbai.

Nandan Coffee
One of my favourite coconut-inspired drinks among Mumbai’s diverse café scene is Nandan Coffee’s cold coconut coffee latte, a signature creation that consistently draws praise from loyalists and first-timers alike. Hailing from a single-estate coffee brand rooted in Kodaikanal, Nandan brings its high-quality beans to the cold coconut coffee. He blends creamy coconut milk with rich espresso to whip up a drink that is both refreshing and comforting. The coconut adds a soft and silky sweetness that beautifully complements the earthy, roasted coffee notes.

Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters
With plenty of outlets all across the city and the country, Blue Tokai has become one of the most visited, go-to coffee spots in all of town, thanks to the high-quality coffee beans, commitment to consistency, and good coffee. In August of this year, this premium coffee house launched a coconut jaggery latte in both hot and cold variants—a healthier, more Indianised twist on Vietnam’s most-loved coffee, and it is worth obsessing over!

They combine fresh espresso with coconut milk and finish it with the gentle, earthy sweetness of jaggery instead of refined sugar. While the cold one quenches your thirst on Mumbai’s sweltering days, the hot one is a perfect pick for day when you need a warm hug.
Regardless of which one floats your boat, the coconut milk adds depth to the coffee’s taste and texture, while the golden-brown jaggery cuts through with a subtle sweetness, making this latte feel more soulful, layered, and less sugary.
It is the kind of drink that proves coconut-milk coffees aren’t just seasonal, rooted in Vietnam, or for Instagram stories, but genuinely delicious and deserve a spot among your favourites.
