You have heard everywhere that coffee is no more a beverage but an experience. The waves have reached Jaipur now and a meal at these spots will prove me right
“Let’s go to Usual for coffee,” this is something I hear from most friends when they propose a catch up. And on one such occasion I did land up at The Usual. Founded by Dhyaan Kaur, I would define the spot as one that is breathable and quiet enough for you to feel at peace.

Talking coffee, its behind the coffee bar that the Usual team prepares their much-loved brews, fruit-flavoured matchas, smoothies, and juices. If I enjoy the coffee of a place, I rarely stop at one drink. At The Usual, I tried three: the Sea Salt Caramel Latte, Burnt Butter Latte, and Cranberry Espresso Tonic. The final one was my most favourite. Cranberry paired with a potent espresso shot and tonic water came together to be a fruity sip. Ofcourse I wished to replace the tonic with some vodka and convert it into an espresso & cranberry martini. But the brew was top notch too.
They are also one of Jaipur’s most loved spots for matcha. Pair your drink with a Detroit-style pizza that has everyone in town talking. They are also doing a churma-flavoured French toast which I didn’t try but have heard is quite delicious.
A Jaipur coffee shop featuring in every other discussion is Doppler Coffee. They are all over Instagram and I am yet to test the trend but from friends and family, I have heard great things. They have an espresso bar, a slow bar, a craft bar, and the space is spread across a lavish, clean, and chic 9,000 sq. ft. space.
While everyone is currently visiting the space to have that photo checklisted on their Instagram stories, the spot is slowly but gradually changing the way the city perceives coffee. From being a beverage to being an experience. How much they are doing for coffee can be seen at their coffee lab where science and art come together and turn into artisanal matcha, tea and coffee. I have heard praises about their tiramisu latte but am surely yet to try it before I pass a verdict.
On the food front, I have been recommended to try the podi podi fries (for sure) and the lemon cheesecake. Skip the avocado toast, please. It is overpriced and doing nothing new (is what a friend said, owing to my love for avocados in everything). I am passing the same advice to you, my friends!

Let’s be clear, Jaipur is still not out of its “let’s head to a cafe that looks aesthetic era.” Keeping that in mind, restaurateur and cafe owners are coming up with spaces that fit the aesthetic bill while doing the serious stuff. Saint Espresso is one such spot. While they are doing the usual frappes and mocha, Saint Espresso is one of the few spots in the city where I saw a pour over and Aeropress on the menu. When I spoke to the server and the barista, they mentioned how the number of orders for a pour over and Aeropress is lesser than an Americano and nutella frappe (most ordered beverage on the menu), they are seeing increased curiosity among the people.
I tried their pour over and felt that it was a clean and flavourful cup. Skip the frappe, please and try their pour over! Pair your beverage with a sandwich, croissant or bowls. Twice I went and the Saints Champ Bowl remained a constant. It features couscous, cottage cheese, sauteed veggies, smashed avocado, and fresh fattoush salad.

This one you must definitely go to. Breathe Coffee. Because my mother thought that Jaipur has seen nothing like this before. The ambience is everything airy and beautiful. But it is the coffee menu that left me more impressed than anything else. The spot is executing some complex drinks with detail, craft, and flavour. I particularly enjoyed the Mont Blanc and Deep Red Raspberry Latte. They have over 5 pages dedicated to coffee on their menu which features a range of frappes, iced and hot lattes, cold and manual brews. I also quite enjoyed the Cafe Medici, a bright and indulgent latte which surprisingly paired citrus w notes of coffee and it worked.

Food wise, I thought the menu is a little too extensive to work with- sometimes even confusing the diner. From the restaurant’s side too it shows confusion- do you wish to keep the focus on the drink or the food? That is the conflict that most restaurants and cafes in Jaipur are struggling with (Delhi is past it). While they are placing specialty brews on the menu ( a risky move), they are playing it safe with a food menu that features classics and dishes that most people would enjoy, including pizza, pasta, and sandwiches. Well, I give it to them.
From the food menu, I only tried the spinach and ricotta ravioli and the Mexican burger, which were good, nothing great. You could sample their global bowls and the extensive roster of dessert which also features some high protein ones.
Been around for a few months now but Jacob’s Brew House is worth a mention on this list. Jacob’s treats coffee with great skill and precision. Each cup is crafted by barista Sonam Darj Sherpa and comes with an information card that informs you about the source and processing of the coffee that you are about to sip on (and love). The expectation from the guest is to receive the beverage with equal attention.
I have dined at Jacob’s only once and among the two things I would return for is The Jacobs Cloud 101. A refreshing yet comforting beverage featuring bright apple acidity, warm pumpkin sweetness, and a creamy coconut finish. What worked the best for it was the frothy coconut finish that added the final touches that the brew demanded.
The Jacobs Sensation, called TJS, is another favourite. A refreshing and layered coffee experience that balances bright tropical notes with a gentle tea-like elegance. It was smooth, creamy, and opened lively with a subtle herbal aroma.
Apart from coffee, you can make a choice among fresh juices, everyone’s favourite- matcha, smoothies, mocktails, and even tea.
