Tucked between familiar storefronts, behind unmarked doors, and sometimes right under our noses, are some of Delhi’s most unique night out destinations, waiting to be discovered. Sans neon signs, welcome mats, extensive Instagram accounts, and loud promotions, these bars live on whispers, word-of-mouth, and the thrill of discovery. Yes, we’re talking about the city’s best-kept secrets: speakeasies.
The epicentre? Vasant Vihar—a neighbourhood that, at first glance, seems like just another upscale cluster of cafés and restaurants. But look a little closer, and you’ll realise it’s become a playground for hidden cocktail rooms, themed bars and low-key speakeasies. At these spots, the lighting is dim, the menus are experimental (and very secretive), and getting in feels like you’ve unlocked something not everyone knows about.
There’s a certain romance to these spaces. Maybe it’s the secrecy, maybe it’s the effort it takes to get there, or maybe it’s just the fact that once you do, the night feels slightly more special—like an adventure, if you will. In a city obsessed with what’s new and next, these bars offer something rarer: a sense of exclusively being in the unknown. So if you’re willing to look a little harder, follow a few clues, and trust a few instincts, consider this your guide.
Beware! This list shares no addresses, because a secret is not a secret if we tell. Your only hint? They’re all in Vasant Vihar. So, get your phones charged, Google Maps ready, and good luck playing Sherlock!
The Bar Behind the Sandwich Shop
True to its name, The Bar Behind The Sandwich Shop is exactly what it promises—and that’s precisely the point. Tucked discreetly behind a seemingly unassuming sandwich counter in Vasant Vihar, this speakeasy-style bar is all about discovery. There’s no address on social media, no Instagram account giving you a virtual walkthrough of the space, no signage pulling you in, and barely a number to contact. Instead, it relies on curiosity and the desire to seek. And as they say, those who seek, shall find!
You begin at a run-of-the-mill sandwich shop, where seekers are greeted by delicious sandos and breads, as one would expect. But behind a discreet doorway—a Japanese-style flap of a curtain—lies The Bar Behind the Sandwich Shop (TBBTSS). Here, the energy is intimate and dimly lit, with a focus on handcrafted cocktails.
The bar programme is extremely personal and was created as a labour of love. In fact, the menu reads like the bartender’s notebook, full of scribbles, polaroids, and anecdotes from life. The music comprises the best of the 90s, candlelight flickers through the night, and the space feels absolutely lived in. This only means one thing: many people are already in on the secret, so don’t wait up.

Together
If most “hidden bars” in Delhi feel like a clever marketing trick to you, Together takes the idea very seriously. Tucked away behind a black cat sign, down an alley and up to a third-floor entrance in Vasant Vihar, this listening bar does something off the beaten track, beginning right from their music.

With a concept-first approach, Together is built as a listening bar inspired by Japanese vinyl culture. Here, music isn’t simply background noise; it anchors the experience of the space. Expect carefully put together playlists played on high-fidelity sound systems, racks full of records by your favourite artists, and a room designed to make you slow down, listen, and stay present—feel the music, as they say.
The 28-seater hidden bar is cosy, with cobbled walls, wooden accents, and warm lighting. The menu leans into Japanese-inspired cocktails and small plates, designed to look like a record. As for cocktail offerings, the menu features 10 signature cocktails under Side A. Flip it over, and there’s a list of low-ABV and non-alcoholic options on Side B, if that’s more your thing. Each item comes with its own track number (mimicking a record) and makes for a delightful ordering experience even before you start drinking. There’s also a set of classics for those who aren’t looking for something new, but their good old Manhattans, Negronis, and Cosmos.

Rumour
Rumour leans wholly into the idea of creating intrigue and curiosity, shrouding most details about the space in a dense cloud of mystery. In my most candid explanation, it feels like a space that exists somewhere between a house party you weren’t invited to and one you’re very glad you found anyway. Positioned as an intimate, speakeasy-style lounge, Rumour is all about that New York aesthetic, built right in the middle of South Delhi.

Its New York loft-inspired aesthetic, complete with a focus on wine, softer lighting, lived-in textures, and bespoke cocktail programme. The space is designed to feel social, but not overwhelming—so that if you stumble upon it, you can have any kind of night out you feel like having.
Like most of Vasant Vihar’s newer hidden bars, Rumour isn’t about volume. Instead, it fits into a much-awaited shift in Delhi’s nightlife, towards smaller, more intentional spaces where the experience feels curated for a specific kind of mood. The “hidden” element isn’t just about the entrance, but about the atmosphere: being under the radar is quite literally what it’s all about. Does Rumour actually exist? We don’t know, it might just be a rumour!

The Dressing Room
When we say ‘hidden bar’ or ‘speakeasy,’ this spot takes it quite literally. As a one-of-its-kind appointment-only speakeasy in Delhi, The Dressing Room feigns the guise of a luxury salon. The experience here begins long before you take that first sip (like most others on this list), thanks to all the effort it takes actually to reach the gates in the first place. Step into the lift that takes you to your desired location, and you’ll reach the bar that’s probably Delhi’s best-kept secret—after entering a code, of course.

With intricately designed interiors inspired by the high-end salons of New York City, London, and Paris, and an ambience that’s elegance at its best, this bar resides quite literally behind a mirror. While it blurs the lines between fine dining and a night out, it’s the best kind of hangout for those seeking something new and out of the ordinary. With a well-designed cocktail and food menu, everything about The Dressing Room makes it an immediate go-to.
Exclusive, intimate, and indulgent, The Dressing Room is where Delhi’s inner circle lives, especially on the weekends. Visit soon (but not without an appointment) if you can find it!
Timings: Monday to Sunday (6:30 pm—1 am) – Appointments only

Hoots’
Hoots’ has built its cult following on pure word-of-mouth and an almost stubborn refusal to be obvious. Think: an unmarked entrance, a tiny, intimate space, and a “you either know or you don’t” kind of vibe. The space is widely recognised for its cocktail programme and has even made it to Asia’s 50 Best Bars, putting it firmly on the global mixology map. It’s also been counted among the top bars worldwide, thanks to precision-driven drinks and hospitality.

The bar creates a space that replicates a prohibition-era speakeasy fantasy, with low lighting, leather seating, and jazz humming softly in the background. But the real twist? The menu. Cocktails here aren’t named, they’re numbered. The philosophy is rooted in discretion: you come here to know what the cocktails are about, and the names give you no idea of what might actually be served to you. That sense of mystery makes the experience all the more intriguing. Some of the go-tos have been No. 4, No. 42, or No. 43—although I don’t think you can get a lot out of that information until you actually visit.
For a taste of exclusivity and luxury, Hoots’ is where to be!
