Remember that ‘How I Met Your Mother Episode’ (HIMYM) in which Marshall raved about how great the concept of brunch is, how much he loves brunches, and how much he misses going to brunches (Lily, his love interest, and he were broken up at the moment)? I couldn’t agree more. Brunches are truly one of the best, most enjoyable meals invented by humankind, solely due to just how much range they have. And yes, I do think it’s quite romantic. The concept of brunch sounds like it was borrowed from the whole idea behind La Dolce Vita—a life lived simply for pleasure. A meal invented to appreciate the goodness of life and of food. And if there’s one city that truly understands the joy of a good brunch, it’s Bombay! No one does leisure quite like we do. Perhaps it’s the sea breeze that slows down time just enough to make another mimosa seem like a good idea, or maybe it’s the city’s obsession with good food, good company, and having a damn good time.

The Little Door

This spot is the first one that comes to my mind when I think of the words ‘brunch in Bombay’. Not only is their Sunday Brunch one of the most popular across the city, but their Greek, coastal interiors are made to resemble everything you’d see at a holiday destination. With alfresco-style seating and a lively, beach bar-like atmosphere, The Little Door in Andheri serves all things European—Greek, Spanish, Italian and more —in a part buffet, part table setting.

Their brunches are the kind that stretch into late afternoons, fuelled by laughter, pancakes, and cocktails that taste like holidays. Think comfort food with a twist: creamy pastas, waffles, sliders, and loaded nachos that disappear fast. Add to that their famous sangria pitchers (the fruity kind that make you want to dance a little), and you’ve got the perfect lazy-day setup. And the cherry on top? These Sunday brunches are always accompanied by live karaoke, so that you can sing along to all the tunes that set your souls on fire, while feasting on a hearty, hearty meal. If you want to feel like a character on ‘The White Lotus’, enjoying a luxe, straight-out-of-a-movie kind of brunch experience, look no further than JW Marriott Juhu’s Sunday Brunch spread, because there are brunches, and then there’s this one. Sunlight pours through the glass walls, the air smells faintly of coffee and waffles, and there’s this gentle hum of clinking cutlery mixed with soft laughter that feels like just the soundtrack to an ideal weekend.

This all-day brunch spot is the brainchild of Barcelona, Spain—called Cup & Cake—which has now mushroomed across the world. With fifteen restaurants worldwide, the recently opened Brunch & Cake is where brunch is eternal. With an all-day brunch menu, this spot has turned the meal into a loved and rejoiced activity that can be done all day long, especially for those who hate mornings (yes, night owls, I’m talking to you).

The interiors are as pretty as the food—sunny, pastel, and wooden. The cafe brings the coastal grandma aesthetic to life, with surfboards, seashells, and palm trees sprinkled generously all around. And the menu? It reads like a love letter to brunch, quite literally. Think fluffy pancakes drizzled with espresso cream, poached eggs on sourdough that somehow taste better because of the plating, and smoothies that are almost too aesthetic to sip.

So, if you, like Lorelai and Rory (our fav ‘Gilmore Girls’), love breakfast for every meal, this spot’s tailor-made for you!

Bombay Canteen’s ‘No Rules Brunch’, available every Saturday and Sunday, is for the desi foodie in all of us—you know when you want to pretend like you’re having a fancy meal but actually just wish to feast on some good old, spicy, homely, comfort food? The Bombay Canteen’s brunch is just that.

The restaurant is notorious for creating Indian variations of almost any cuisine, and we aren’t complaining. Whether you want to start with chaat (for the chatpata lover in you), classic breakfast eggs, or even cocktails (don’t worry, we won’t judge), this brunch actually has no rules. In classic TBC fashion, this brunch comprises ‘Indianised’ waffles, lump crab dahi puri, bacon kulcha, and much more. It’s everything your taste buds didn’t know they needed. Their playlists are always bopping, and the interiors are unapologetically OBSESSED with Bombay (it’s quite literally in the name).

Cecconi’s, Soho House Mumbai

For all those seeking a bit of that Italian summer magic in their lives, this brunch is perfect for you. From jewel-toned interiors and a perfect European salad bar to a Bellini cart serving Prosecco and mimosas as well as a generously widespread cheese wheel, this brunch is luxury at its finest. And the view? Don’t even get me started. Overlooking the Juhu Beach, Cecconi’s offers one of the most picturesque, serene views in all of the city to accompany your meals, be it day or night (but the sunset is definitely the most special).

The best part? The brunch serves more healthy options than not. Most of the spread is chock full of garden-fresh veggies, live counters, and roasted meats—aka, everything good for your tummy. Even the choice of desserts is to-die-for. At the end of the day, who doesn’t love some scrumptious, healthy food alongside a bottomless cocktail menu, in a place that looks like it was pulled right out of your next vacation?
