These Are Mumbai’s 5 Best Wine Bars

All wine lovers—this is your time to shine! We’re drinking wine casually again, and these are all the spots in the city where you can find us

There was a time when ordering wine felt like you needed to look through a glossary of “correct” terminologies, required a sommelier’s truest advice and blessing, and, if possible, a personality shift. It was reserved for white-tablecloth restaurants, special occasions, and repeating the immense, intimidating knowledge of “notes of oak” with a straight face. But somewhere between these lengthy wine lists, Mumbai’s bar culture boom, and the rise of casual dining spaces, wine has shed its formal identity and picked up a far cooler one!

Wine is finally casual again. It’s no longer just about swirling your wine glasses with attention to detail or deciphering labels you can’t pronounce. Instead, it’s about splitting a bottle on a Tuesday, ordering a glass of orange wine just because you’re curious, pairing reds with fries without apologising (if that’s what floats your boat), and discovering that a chilled rosé can be just as perfect for a humid Mumbai evening as a gin and tonic. The city’s drinking culture has evolved, and I’m happy to notice that wine has found its groove within it.

These new-age, evolved wine bars aren’t stiff or made for occasions. They’re buzzy, sometimes loud, often beautifully designed, and very inviting. And perhaps that’s what makes this so exciting for wine lovers.

Whether you’re a seasoned enthusiast who knows your varietals like the back of your hand or someone who just figured out you prefer crisp whites over dry reds, there’s space for everyone at the table. These are all the spots in Mumbai where you’ll find us raising a glass!

Perch Wine & Coffee Bar

If you’ve ever wanted a place where a glass of red wine feels just at home next to a cappuccino, Perch Wine & Coffee Bar in Khar West is the place to be! Part café, part wine bar, this neighbourhood favourite somehow strikes the perfect balance between laid-back in the daytime and elevated in the evening, making it ideal for every kind of plan.

Perch’s wine list is one of its strongest calling cards, for obvious reasons. Their bar consistently curates an extensive selection of wines from around the world, including classics and new-world options that pair well with food or can be enjoyed on their own. There’s a mix of reds, whites, rosés and sparkling wines, both local and international.

To go with the wines, they offer a generous food menu that leans toward contemporary European and Mediterranean cuisine. When dining, you can opt for savoury bomboloni with delicious fillings, grilled artichoke & palm heart, and avocado & goat cheese bruschetta, all of which pair well with a chilled white or a light red. Larger plates range from wild rice and porcini risotto to pasta and grills, providing options that span from casual snacking to a full dinner if that’s what you’re in for. On the desserts front, Perch offers a warm banana bread, a flourless chocolate cake, and a boozy tiramisu.

The ambience, of course, matches their concept perfectly. Perch is located in a breezy, well-lit space, offering a mix of both indoor and outdoor seating. Meanwhile, the décor blends a Mediterranean-inspired aesthetic with the A-Z of casual café touches: a setting that feels sophisticated without being intimidating. Whether you’re visiting to compare glasses of Sauvignon Blanc over lunch or end the evening with a decadent dessert and a smoky red, Perch strikes a comfortable middle ground between café and wine bar!

Perched on the 34th floor of the Four Seasons Hotel in Worli, AER is one of Mumbai’s most talked-about spots for wine connoisseurs as well as cocktail lovers alike, who want to drink with the most breathtaking view. This open-air rooftop lounge transforms casual wine drinking into an experience—think the picturesque city of Mumbai, the sound of water hitting Marine Drive, the colours of the sunset reflected in your glass, and a breezy atmosphere that makes any weekday evening feel like a mini celebration.

The wine list at AER is quite vast and well-curated, with options by the glass as well as by the bottle, across sparkling, white, rosé, and red categories. Expect favourites like Casa Bottega Prosecco and Moët & Chandon Brut Imperial if you’re celebrating, along with approachable whites like Warwick “The First Lady” Chardonnay or an Italian Fantini Pinot Grigio. Rosé lovers can dive into classic pours like Whispering Angel Grenache. At the same time, reds such as Moulin de Gassac Syrah, Merlot, and Rutini Colección Malbec are perfect for those who enjoy a bolder sip. AER’s wine programme is clearly designed to meet a range of tastes, be it something light and effervescent to toast the golden hour or a structured red.

Meanwhile, their food menu is equally great if you’ve gone with an appetite! From tossed edamame and truffle parmesan fries to crispy open baos and dragon chilli prawns, their bites pair well with whatever’s in your glass, especially chilled whites and sparkling wine.

Whether you’re visiting to watch the city light up, to sip some bubbles with friends, or for a special celebration, AER is sure to impress!

Veronica’s

If you thought wine was all about settling down for a few hours and sipping away slowly, you thought wrong! Bandra’s most favourite hotspot, Veronia’s, is changing this perception one pour at a time, as they serve customers chilled glasses as they wait in the queue for their tables to free up, finally. Yes! Veronia’s is making queueing up fun for all Mumbaikers, and you must not miss out. The best part? If you’re lucky or if the sommelier just really loves you, you might even get a good discount by the glass!

This one’s among my personal favourite picks from this list for all the good reasons, of course! (Credits: @veronicasbombay)

Tucked down a charming by-lane in Bandra’s Ranwar Village, Veronica’s has quickly earned a reputation as one of the city’s most talked-about casual café-meets-wine-spot destinations. Created by the team behind beloved local spots like The Bombay Canteen and O Pedro, Veronica’s is all about the city’s best burgers, artisanal coffee, kombucha on tap, and a curated wine selection in an atmosphere that’s as relaxed as it is buzzy.

Unlike traditional wine bars that centre almost entirely around drinking, Veronica’s treats wine as a social companion to its food, particularly its signature sandwiches and baked goods. Here, wine is all about fun, often letting you choose based on your mood. On request (if you’re a beginner like me), the generous sommelier will also make suggestions based on your taste and preferences. Their selections include a mix of French, Argentinian, South African, and even a couple of Indian wines, all chosen to pair well with the deli-style menu—sans pretension.

The food menu itself—one of Veronia’s most talked-about aspects—is above and beyond. Their sandwiches and burgers are the best part, from the smoky Italian-style ‘The Italian Job’ with mortadella, smoked ham and buffalo mozzarella, to the allegedly best smash burger in the city. They also have salads and lighter bites for those who prefer something fresh alongside a glass of rosé or chilled white. Seasonal kombuchas, beer on tap, and artisanal coffees add to just how unique this place actually is—from wine pairings to the best burgers in the city, they’ve got it all!

Stepping inside Veronica’s feels like entering a curated art display. Housed in the former St Jude’s Bakery building, the interiors are all about diners meet graffiti-style artwork, creating an artsy, Instagrammable space—just the pairing for the eclectic spirit of Bandra itself!

Vetro & Enoteca

Located within The Oberoi, Nariman Point, Vetro & Enoteca is far beyond a typical wine bar. It’s a wine destination wrapped up in the most delicious Italian offerings. The name, in which ‘Vetro’ translates to ‘glass,’ while ‘Enoteca’ means ‘wine repository’ or ‘wine library,’ is fitting.

One of the most spectacular wine collections in the city. (Credits: @theoberoimumbai)

What truly sets Vetro apart in Mumbai’s wine scene is the ‘Enoteca’ part. It’s a dedicated wine library that’s one of the few of its kind in the city. Here, floor-to-ceiling displays house 800+ bottles, including one of India’s most extensive collections of Italian wines from regions such as Friuli, Piedmont, Toscana and Veneto, along with excellent Old and New World labels. Diners can even sample a wine flight—traditionally four whites and four reds, before deciding on a bottle to pair with their meal, with guidance from the in-house sommelier, if required.

While wine is the star, Vetro’s food menu is equally delicious. Classic antipasti like burrata with arugula and parmesan crisp are good starters with lighter whites or rosé. Meanwhile, rich saffron risotto, handcrafted pasta and braised lamb are good choices for mains. Lastly, desserts like panna cotta and artisanal gelato are the perfect sweet treats to end the evening!

More than a restaurant, Vetro & Enoteca offers a wine experience: browse more wine bottles than you’ve probably seen before, taste your favourite picks by the glass, and pair each of the wines with authentic Italian fare!

Olive Bar & Kitchen

When it comes to wine, Olive Bar & Kitchen has been part of Mumbai’s dining psyche for well over a decade. Located in Khar West, Olive has built a reputation as a destination for long, lazy meals complemented by beautiful wines that match the coastal, Mediterranean-inspired ambience perfectly.

This one’s an all-time favourite for a reason! (Credits: @olivemumbai)

Olive’s wine list is broad and well-curated, with selections that span sparkling, white, rosé and red styles from iconic Old World producers as well as New World labels. The wine programme typically includes classics like Prosecco and Champagne by the glass, refreshing whites such as Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio, milder rosés and reds like Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon that pair well with Mediterranean flavours.

Food, of course, has always been a key part of the wine experience at Olive, with dishes that are specifically to elevate what’s in your glass. Popular choices that pair exceptionally well with wine include burrata with cherry tomatoes and basil for crisp whites or light rosés; grilled seafood platters for fuller-bodied whites or dry rosés; and lamb cutlets or truffle risotto that complement more structured reds. The menu has quite a broad focus, so you’re sure to find something that picks your fancy without too much thought!

The interiors at Olive are, of course, one of the most talked about aspects of the brand. With natural light, whitewashed walls, terracotta accents and leafy greenery, the space has a breezy, coastal feel that instantly makes you feel like you’re on vacation. By evening, soft lighting and candlelit tables make it a perfect spot for date night. Hence, it’s easy to see why Olive has endured the test of time: it strikes the much-needed balance between fancy and yet relaxing—the most ideal for a world we’re trying to drink wine casually again!
