Honestly, what a lovely problem to have, right?

This May, the city’s newest arrivals are giving us plenty to talk about and, more importantly, plenty to reserve. There are aesthetically designed restaurants you’ll go to just for the pictures, laid-back spots perfect for long overdue catch-ups, and bars that practically demand a spontaneous weekday detour. You best believe that Bengaluru’s latest openings are keeping your dining calendar very, very full.

So if your saved folder is overflowing, your “must-visit” list is growing faster than your patience, and you’re wondering where to head next, consider this your only dictionary. These are the Bengaluru openings to know—and dine at—this May.

Pincode by Kunal Kapur

At Pincode by Kunal Kapur, nostalgia is the main ingredient. The name itself is an ode to the place that births us and nurtures us, no matter where it may be. And that’s exactly why Chef Kapur names it ‘Pincode’—because it belongs to everyone.

The newest Bengaluru outpost takes the idea of regional Indian comfort food and just enough surprise. The space mirror that with warm, coloured interiors, curated design details, and installations that make it feel less like a restaurant and more like a carefully assembled scrapbook of India’s culinary memories.

The menu, on the other hand, is where things get especially fun. Every dish is tied to a place—a literal pincode—and draws from Chef Kapur’s travels and memories of eating across the country. You’ll want to begin with the Podi Idli Chaat, a clever reworking of a South Indian staple, and the Pesto Burrata Pav Bhaji, which sounds bizarre but somehow makes perfect sense once it arrives. The Kathal Galauti with Ulta Tawa Paratha is another standout, turning good old jackfruit into a richly spiced, melt-in-your-mouth treat. For something more classic, the Punjabi Kadhi Pakora and Mutton Nihari stay closer to tradition and offer all the comfort you’d hope for. And if there’s room (and there should be), the Pansari Kulfi makes for a fittingly sweet end.

The biggest pull of this restaurant is how effortlessly it balances innovation with emotion. Instead of reinventing Indian food for the sake of it, it reminds you why you loved these flavours in the first place, adding just a little extra pizzazz.

No Shop Talk

At No Shop Talk, Bengaluru’s work-hard-play-hard culture gets a much-needed intervention.

Located inside Embassy Tech Square, this newly opened experimental cocktail bar wears its name like a command (and a serious one at that): log off, put the laptop away, and absolutely no turning drinks into a strategy meeting. In a city where even casual dinners can somehow spiral into startup pitches and funding conversations, this instruction feels VERY refreshing.

Leave all your work stress behind when dining and drinking here!

Whether that means cocktails with colleagues you actually like or a dinner where, for once, nobody is allowed to say the words deck, deliverables, or circle back, you’re open to take your pick!

The menu travels across cuisines, pulling from Continental, Asian, Middle Eastern, and Indian influences, which means there’s plenty to explore depending on what kind of meal you’re craving. Grab the Kimchi Smash Burgers, Truffle Burrata Tart, and Goan Cutlet Sliders for a deliciously wholesome meal. On the cocktail front, some go-tos include coffee & cascara, coconut water & coconut oil (a personal fav given my love for coconuts), and cheese & ricotta.

In a city built around ambition, No Shop Talk offers something rare: the permission to switch off. And honestly, we know you could all use some of that.

Address: 13/1, Embassy Tech Square Main Rd, Hobli, Kadubeesanahalli, Varthur, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560103

Timings: Tuesday to Sunday (6 pm–1 am)

Price for two: INR 1,100 (Without alcohol)

The Cloak Society

At The Cloak Society, Bengaluru’s cocktail scene gets a serious new glow up. Hidden within The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore, this intimate speakeasy is designed to feel exactly like what its name promises: mysterious, immersive, theatrical, and just a little secretive. Described by the hotel as a theatre-inspired bar, it takes storytelling very seriously.

When we say intimate, we mean it very literally, because the speakeasy features no more than 36 seats. Helmed by Colin Tait, whose whisky expertise shapes much of the bar’s identity, the cocktail menu—particularly The Antique Collection—is built around layered, spirit-forward pours that pay tribute to different eras, regions, and whisky styles. Expect drinks that are stirred, complex, and designed to be savoured slowly, especially if you’re the kind of person who takes your cocktails in the highest regard.

But even if whisky isn’t your usual order, The Cloak Society is worth visiting for the atmosphere alone. Bengaluru loves a good speakeasy—but this one might just be its most dramatic yet.

Address: The Ritz-Carlton, 99, Residency Rd, Shanthala Nagar, Ashok Nagar, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560025

Timings: Monday to Saturday (6:00 pm-1:00 am)

Price for two: INR 5,500

Kalpaney

For all those of you who are vegetarians and find no new spots dedicated to you, look no further. Because at Kalpaney, vegetarian dining gets a delicious upgrade. Created by the team behind Bengaluru favourites SOKA and Jamming Goat, this all-vegetarian restaurant—whose name comes from kalpana, meaning imagination—feels like a place built for people who love comfort food but wish to see it in a whole new light.

The interiors are well-curated, with warm wooden textures, brass accents, handcrafted ceramics, and playful Panchatantra-inspired artwork, making the restaurant feel like a throwback, like stepping into a quaint ancestral home.

On the menu, start with the Feta Meets Dahi Bhalla, which gives the beloved chaat staple a unique detour, or the Thai Mala Dumpling, a bold fusion. The Nadru Seekh, made with lotus stem, is another standout, while the Dal Dhokli Reimagined—where the Gujarati staple takes the form of tagliatelle—is exactly the kind of clever dish Kalpaney does best. And then there’s the much-talked-about Garlic Truffle Khichdi, because apparently even khichdi can have a luxury era now.

In a city increasingly obsessed with experience-led dining, Kalpaney asks you to invest time in something more lasting: food that promises to deliver!

Address: Ground Floor, A Cross, 210, 1st Main Rd, inside ICON BOUTIQUE HOTEL, 2nd stage Indiranagar, Stage 2, Domlur, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560071

Timings: Monday to Sunday (12–4 pm, 7–11 pm)

Price for two: INR 1,000

The Porcupine

Set in Indiranagar, inside an amber-lit, manor-like space, The Porcupine manages to feel new, polished, and lived-in all at once. Think exposed brick walls, warm dangling lights, and an airy deck that practically begs for long evenings and “just one more drink.” Inside, the space unfolds into three distinct sections: a vinyl-led bar for music lovers, a dedicated counter spotlighting Indian spirit-forward cocktails, and a classic beer pub setup.

Your delicious cocktail experience awaits! (Credits: @theporcupineindia)

On the food front, instead of predictable bar snacks, The Porcupine serves what they call Bangalorian club food, which, yes, is a culture of its own. Start with the gundu dosa, or soft, steamed dosa dumplings with chutney, if you’re craving some good South Indian. If you’re ordering for the table, the lamb cutlets and bite-sized pulled lamb patties are easy crowd-pleasers, while mains like the Brinjal Pot, inspired by Karnataka’s beloved vangi baath, and a coastal-style fish curry rice make a strong case for staying longer than planned.

And then, of course, there are the drinks (arguably the real reason to come). The bar’s India-first approach shines through cocktails like the Prickly Aam Reserve, made with tequila and house-made raw mango cordial, or the Pickleback Gin, which pairs gin with mixed pickle brine and tonic. There’s even a Butterscotch No. 33, featuring butterscotch-washed whisky and gondhoraj syrup.

Address: Binnamangala, 838/A, 100 Feet Rd, First Stage, Indiranagar, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560038

Timings: Monday to Sunday (12 pm–1 am)

Price for two: INR 1,200 (Without alcohol)
