In a landmark moment for Asia’s cocktail industry, Bar Leone in Hong Kong has been named The World’s Best Bar 2025, making history as the first-ever Asian bar to claim the top spot on the prestigious global list. The announcement was made at The World’s 50 Best Bars awards ceremony, held for the first time in Hong Kong on 8 October at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal—a night that drew more than a thousand of the world’s most influential bartenders, bar owners, and media professionals.
Founded by celebrated bartender Lorenzo Antinori, Bar Leone is known for its intimate neighbourhood charm, Italian-inspired hospitality, and timeless cocktails that blend classic techniques with contemporary flair. Since opening its doors, the bar has earned a reputation for crafting drinks that tell a story—refined, soulful, and deeply personal. Its design, inspired by vintage Italian bars, combines elegance with ease, creating a space that feels both familiar and extraordinary.

Reacting to the win, Antinori said, “To be named the number one bar in the world is not only an incredible honour for us at Bar Leone, but also a truly proud moment for Hong Kong. This recognition not only highlights our hard work but also affirms that our city belongs at the very heart of the global bar industry, celebrated for its creativity and warm hospitality. Welcoming the world’s best bartenders to Hong Kong this week has filled the city with incredible energy and excitement. It’s truly thrilling to see Hong Kong shine on the international stage, and we feel privileged to be part of this journey.”

Bar Leone’s victory is more than an individual achievement—it reflects the evolution of Hong Kong’s dynamic and world-class cocktail culture. Over the past decade, the city has transformed into a leading destination for innovative mixology, home to bars that balance experimentation with deep respect for craft and tradition. From speakeasy-style hideaways to neighbourhood cocktail dens, Hong Kong’s bar scene thrives on creativity, collaboration, and a strong sense of community.
