There’s something about The Grammar Room that makes you slow down. Tucked inside Delhi’s Khan Market, this all-day café radiates laid-back charm with its sun-washed interiors, potted greens, and massive windows that spill golden light across your table. Conceptualised by chef Dhruv Oberoi, the new summer menu is all about light, flavour-forward comfort food that feels good on hot days, without ever compromising on depth.
Star Dish
There’s a reason this dish has its own fan club. The Chicken Kra Pow was hands-down the scene-stealer of the evening. It was a Thai-style one-bowl wonder with finely minced chilli-garlic chicken, crispy shallots, crushed peanuts, and jasmine rice, all brought together with a perfectly poached egg on top. The chicken was spicy and fragrant but never overwhelming, balanced by the rice’s subtle sweetness and the shallots’ crunch.

What’s More
But don’t stop at the Kra Pow because this menu has layers. We tried the Teriyaki Sushi Tostada, an open sushi served on a nori base, layered with sticky rice, scallion salsa, and a surprising grilled pineapple twist. While sushi purists might raise an eyebrow, it totally works if you’re in the mood to experiment. The sweetness of the pineapple played off the umami-rich rice in a way that was more dessert than dinner, but still delightful in its own quirky way.
Next up were their Nutella Pancakes—cloud-like, pillowy-soft and generously drizzled with chocolate. Fluffy enough to justify the “cake” in pancakes, they were comfort on a plate and the perfect ending to a bold meal. The menu itself leans playful, with enough variety for both the classic brunch lover and the curious food explorer.
Drinks Menu
No summer menu is complete without drinks that hit just right, and The Grammar Room delivers. We tried Athena 2.0, a refreshing gin cocktail with jasmine tea steeped in coconut water and lime. It was breezy, light, and tasted like a tropical vacation in a glass. It’s not too citrusy or sweet; it’s just the kind of drink you want to sip while the afternoon stretches on.
From the mocktail section, Not Your Spicy Margarita looked like something out of a wellness retreat (read: green) but packed more punch than expected. With jalapeño, cilantro, lime, celery, and agave, it had a tangy, herby “chapati” vibe that was oddly addictive.
Vibe Check
The Grammar Room is one of those rare spots that feels both buzzy and serene. With only indoor seating, it might disappoint al fresco enthusiasts, but the wide windows, trailing plants, and warm wood interiors make it feel like you’re sitting inside a grown-up treehouse. The crowd here is a mix of laptop-tapping solo diners, brunching besties, and couples basking in the quiet hum of good food. Service is warm and thoughtful without being overly formal.
