The Third Place: Pune’s First Dedicated Wine Bar Opens In Koregaon Park

Pune’s culinary and lifestyle scene has a new entrant with the launch of The Third Place, the city’s first dedicated wine bar. Founded by hospitality veteran Kunal Mhaske, Managing Director of Grandeur Hotels Pvt. Ltd., The Third Place is envisioned as a warm community space—what Mhaske describes as “a home away from home.” The idea stems from the global concept of “the third place”—after home and work—where people can connect, unwind, and share experiences in a relaxed, intentional setting.

What’s On The Menu?

The food and beverage program has been curated to emphasise soulful flavours and high-quality craftsmanship. Helmed by Chef Toshan Salgaonkar, the all-day menu draws inspiration from European cuisine with a special focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients.

Guests can start with light bites such as Fresh Pear Salad, Chorizo (Chilli-Fried Pork), Roasted Root Vegetables, Grilled Mushrooms, Beets, and Burrata, or heartier mains like Oven-Roasted Chicken and Lamb Meatballs.

One of the highlights is the pizza station, serving wood-fired Neapolitan-style pizzas made with a 72-hour slow-fermented dough. Using aged cheeses like Parmigiano Reggiano, Grana Padano, and Pecorino Romano, the pizzas range from classics such as Caprese, Quattro Formaggi, and Pepperoni to inventive options like Farmacy and Meat Overload. There’s also the distinctive Panuozzo or pizza sandwich with fillings like Pesto Chicken, Tomato Bocconcini, and BLT/HLT.

Complementing the food is a sommelier-led wine bar, featuring craft wines served in their purest form. SOIL Coffee focuses on slow-brewed, homestyle indulgence. This interplay of wine, coffee, and food ensures guests can enjoy the space anytime.

The Ambience

Designed by Kunal Mhaske in collaboration with stylist Kajal Patel, the interiors feature refurbished and repurposed furniture, abundant indoor greenery, and natural light that gives the space an earthy yet vibrant appeal. There are private corners for intimate conversations, communal countertops for casual bonding, and open spaces for browsing the adjoining concept stores. These include Altrove by Shreya Mantri and Style Mati by Fatima, offering slow-fashion and lifestyle collections inspired by muted tones, earthy colours, and natural forms that embrace inclusivity and gender neutrality. Décor pieces, clothing, and home accessories flow seamlessly into the dining experience, reinforcing The Third Place as a multi-sensory cultural hub.
