These 5 Cafés Are Serving Mumbai’s Best Smoothie Bowls

These are some of the most delish (and very Insta-worthy) smoothie bowls in all of the city

Yummy, healthy, and so, so picture perfect—smoothie bowls are THE breakfast to eat and love.

Let’s be honest: if Bandra had an official breakfast mascot, it wouldn’t be eggs, toast, or even that aggressively priced almond croissant we all keep buying. It would, without question, be the smoothie bowl. No other breakfast item captures the neighbourhood’s vibe quite like it—equal parts wholesome, colourful, gym-adjacent, and convincingly “I’m doing something good for myself today.” The bonus? Obviously, how picture perfect they actually are. Even when you’re not trying, smoothie bowls still look absolutely stunning—which is why it’s so damn fun to eat them.

Bandra girls (and honestly, most of us pretending we live like them) have turned smoothie bowls into a full-blown lifestyle. It’s the post-Pilates ritual, the weekend breakfast essential, and the “I deserve a sweet treat but like, a healthy one at that” compromise that always feels justified.

My personal favourite ones are hyper-specific, because I’ve always been a picky eater. I like my smoothie bowls to be thick, creamy, of an almost soft-serve-like texture and lush, topped like they were curated with tweezers, and colourful enough to make a picture-perfect story that looks like I just got back from Bali. My fav toppings (or the only ones I like, actually) include açai, matcha, berries, peanut butter, strawberries, banana, cacao nibs, coconut clusters, and sometimes, Nutella. For the smoothie itself, I don’t care what’s in it or how much there is—it should taste good, sometimes like dessert. I love deceiving myself into eating healthy, because I know I won’t consciously do it. My point is simple: I just want to feel like Barbie, eating some very yummy and very pretty food that is also very healthy.

So, if you find yourself relating to me even a little bit, if you just love smoothie bowls and are looking to try some of the best in the city, or if you’ve seen these aesthetic-looking bowls making the rounds on Instagram and wish to give them a try, look no further because I’ve got you! Read on for some of the best smoothie bowl recs around Mumbai.

Shelter Cafe

This spot is one of my personal favourites, not only for their smoothie bowls, but also for their overall all-day breakfast menu, and very laid-back, WFH-friendly vibe. Located right across the Versova beach, it makes for the perfect spot to enjoy a slow, early morning after a walk alongside the sea, and a post-walk, wholesome and wholehearted meal. Their coffee menu is also very widespread and absolutely delicious.

The very berry smoothie bowl is thick (as it should be), cold, deeply berry-forward, and topped with this generous scatter of granola, banana and strawberry slices, seeds, and some blueberries that make the whole thing feel like breakfast and dessert at the same time. It’s cold, refreshing, and so, so filling—the perfect start to a lazy weekend in. Another yum smoothie bowl delight is their maple banana probiotic bowl, which resembles a healthy version of a guilty pleasure—nutty, creamy, and very banana-y. Other brekkie items, including their French toast, masala omelette, and avocado toast, are also staples that you must try if you visit.

No better way to complement a morning at the beach than to devour a rejuvenating sweet treat that won’t affect your 75-hard, I promise!

Açai by the Bay

Açai by the Bay is basically this city’s love letter to beachy, feel-good, sun-soaked breakfasts—even though the Arabian Sea is a polite five-minute walk away, this place makes you feel like you’re eating your morning bowl on a boardwalk in Rio. Everything here revolves around açai, and thankfully, they take it very seriously. Their bowls are thick, cold, velvety, and unmistakably berry-rich—everything smoothie bowls should be. While they’re only open for online orders or takeaways, a single spoonful of any bowl on the menu is sure to transport you to vacation—yes, imagine any of your fav beachside locations when you devour any of these bowls, and you’ll be transported, at least for the duration of your meal.

Crowd favourite orders include the mango tango bow: a tangy, fruity, and summery delight, perfect for the sweltering, humid temperatures Mumbai often tends to throw at us, all throughout the year. It’s a tropical lover’s delight, and the best part is that you can customise everything as and when you like it. Personally, I also really enjoy berries in my smoothie bowls, so I really love their triple berry smoothie bowl—an antioxidant-rich blend of blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries, swirled into a smooth sorbet base, topped with sliced fruits and chia seeds. It doesn’t get healthier (or yummier) than this! And my favourite part has got to be the deep purple shade of this smoothie bowl—it resembles blended orchids, quite literally.

Sequel

The outside of this little spot resembles the infamous restaurant we see, over and over again, throughout all the seasons of ‘Emily in Paris’. Yes, that’s right, Gabriel’s restaurant.

Everything here is organic, clean, nutrient-packed, and plated so beautifully you almost feel bad ruining the symmetry. Almost, because it’s too yummy not to eat. The space itself is minimalist and aesthetic, with quiet corners, warm wood, and sunlight streaming in—the kind of place where people journal, catch up with friends, and order bowls that look like they belong in a wellness documentary.

Their acai berry immunity booster bowl is a pilates girl’s staple—packed with wild blueberries, banana, and just enough natural sweetness to keep things interesting. It comes topped with their iconic gluten-free granola (crunchy, nutty, lightly sweet), banana slices, berries, and a handful of superfood extras that make you feel like you’re genuinely doing something good for your body. Their super green smoothie is quite popular, which may sound like it’s too healthy to taste good, but it is, in fact, very, very yummy. A blend of spinach, avocado, cucumber, and spirulina that somehow comes together into this refreshing, tropical, creamy thing you finish embarrassingly fast. If you’re someone who likes your breakfast to taste as healthy as it looks, this one is the holy grail.

With an outlet in both Bandra and Kala Ghoda, this spot is making Mumbai healthier, one dish at a time, and we are here for it!

Mokai

Mokai feels like someone bottled up a Japanese bungalow, mixed in Bandra’s vibrant, Gen Z energy, and added a splash (or more) of colour from Southeast Asia—and their menu carries that same vibe.

Their breakfast menu is quite large, but my personal favourite is the standout bowl: The berry good acai. It blends acai with blueberry, mango, and dates, then gets crowned with house-made jaggery granola, fresh mango chunks, and chia seeds. It’s a bowl that’s indulgent and deeply nourishing—cold, creamy, berry-rich, and perfectly balanced, without straying far too much into dessert territory.

I also really enjoy their strawberry yoghurt bowl. While it’s quite different from a smoothie, it makes for the perfect breakfast or brunch meal, with plenty of probiotics to go around, as well as a hearty and delicious meal in itself. Topped with almond shavings, strawberries, blueberries and chia seeds, it’s a treat for your gut (as well as your taste buds)! The bonus? It’s got to be the book of beverages because there’s just so much to choose from when it comes to what goes with your meal. Visit STAT!

JuCo Café

JuCo Café is that perfectly balanced wellness hangout where feeling fit doesn’t mean giving up fun—its all-day breakfast menu seems as though it has been thoughtfully curated for both the “just-ate-yoga” crowd and someone like me who always wants dessert energy in their morning plates. They’re dedicated to clean and healthy living, which is why they’re a perfect pick for this list. Their smoothie-bowl section is obviously a highlight: the acai smoothie bowl features a thick blend of acai, berries, yoghurt, and fresh fruit. Then there’s the avocado spirulina smoothie bowl, which mixes creamy avocado, spinach, spirulina, and a fresh topping of your choice. For those seeking something sweet and chocolatey all the time (also like me), the dark chocolate smoothie bowl combines banana, almond butter, almond milk, and candied nuts in a very “yes, this is a treat” sort of way, because deceiving your taste buds is always the way to go!

However, this spot’s wellness credentials run even deeper. Their cold-pressed juice menu is enormous (there are over 14 options), and they also offer “All day eggs” for brunch or even dinner, as wholesome meal bowls if you’re feeling hearty rather than sweet.

JuCo is a go-to when you want a “good for me but also good tastes good” breakfast, and that’s exactly why we love it!
